The process of diagnosis is usually a hard time for the families and the patient involved because of the lengthy trials and the frequent trips to the hospital. It all just adds to the suffering that the patient is already going through.
In order to make an accurate diagnosis a pathologist will have to examine tissue under a microscope to make a determination. That is usually when the type of cancer is determined. This is called pathology.
Pathology is the study of cells, tissue, or fluid taken from the body. Most hospitals usually have their own pathology lab with certified and licensed pathologists and technologists.

If the physician’s diagnosis is inconclusive they can always contact a more specialized lab. It is always important to get the right diagnosis in order to get the right treatment for the disease.
